New keyboard! ^_^
Aug. 7th, 2004 10:41 pmOkay, so it's not a lot to say, but there's finally a new keyboard, so I can type my little heart out without worrying about getting a weird disease off some grungy keys. Bad news is that I still have no internet on my computer... borrowing my sister's just isn't the same.
I haven't done much writing lately, but I have been doing a spot of drawing in hopes that it will evolve into my biggest project to date. I can't say anything more specific-- it'll ruin the surprise!
So then, the real reason I haven't been writing is much more mundane than I'd like, but it's horrifically true. Fro the past week or so, we've had a real heat wave, complete with 90% humidity... which makes 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit feel like a hundred degrees or more. I spent most of the time sitting while my brain turned into overcooked mush courtesy of the weather.
And of course, what should happen in the middle of this awful weather? The fridge breaks down, everything in the freezer thaws, and I have to throw out the contents of both this coming Tuesday (garbage day). I've called the repair people six times this week, and can't get anyone to come look at it. Why? Because they're out fixing air conditioners! Heaven forbid people have to go without artificially cooled air when it's hot out. Frankly, I'm more concerned about keeping food from spoiling... although it's too late for what's in the fridge right now.
On a more positive note, I have new oil, a new air filter, and four brand-new tires for my car! We're celebrating the big 50,000 miles this weekend, so he's getting some premium gas the next time I stop. Yes, my car's a he. I don't believe that every vehicle on land, in the sea or air is female. It's chauvinistic from my perspective-- supposedly they're females because women need men to guide them. Crapola, I say. My car just isn't a girly car.
Also good is that I've finally retrieved all my boxes of books. I'm working on cataloguing them this weekend... no small task, considering it took around three hours to type in all the titles. The authors took less time, though-- I can match the titles with the correct author almost totally by memory: out of 250 books, I only had to fish out ten or twelve to see who the author was.
Oh! I almost forgot. School starts up again in three weeks! I need to start packing very soon. I remember I waited until 5pm the night before the opening last year... it was a disaster! That's not going to happen this year, no siree! At least I won't have to pack up my desktop-- hurrah for laptops!!! I'll need to take some entertainment, though. My manga is definitely coming with me, and free reading books would be nice too. It'll be easier to pack this time because I've got more actual boxes, instead of just loading stuff into the car. And pens. I need lots of pens... I can't write with pencils, for some reason. I hope my new roommate and I will get along!
Well, I'm tired now. Ciao!
