Daily dose of Hakkai-angst!
May. 9th, 2011 12:42 amAngst. Angst, angst, and more angst. The more I wrote, the angstier this got. But then...this is Hakkai we're talking about. This is just a quick character study, inspired by a poem that caught my eye as I leafed through one of the anthologies I have on hand. I've made some speculations about/obfuscated canon details, but I can't think of anything worthy of a warning. It's totally tame and PG-like, if you discount the angst.

The prefacing poem was written by Izumi Shikibu. This particular translation comes from the book "The Ink Dark Moon," with translations by Jane Hirschfield and Mariko Aratani. It just struck me as very Hakkai-ish, though I took it in a much darker view, I think, than might have been intended. (It was originally a love poem. Trust me to de-love the love poem. XD)
Off to bed I go! And tomorrow...more work on the Broad-Ford Crow!
